ST SERENEDUS, HERMIT - 7 MAY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 7th of May WELCOME! SAINT SERENEDUS, HERMIT Saint Serenedus (also variously spelled Selering , Selerin, Senereus, Senerz ) is commemorated on May 7, May 11, March 6, and July 21. Serenedus was the older brother of Saint Serenicus. Through word and example he guided his younger sibling to piety as well as to learning the sciences.  Their life story is vast, wonderful and legendary. An angelic apparition lead them to Rome, where they took the habit of the Benedictine Order. A number of years later they moved to France. Here, always admonished and guided by angels, they lived for a while at the current Chateau-Gontier in the diocese of Angers, and then settled in the desert of Charnie in the diocese of Mans. Prayer, mortification, and manual labour were their daily occupations.  Later, Saint Serenicus settled in the area of ​​Hyesmes (Oxima) , while his brother had his cell in Saulges (Salicae).
