From his infancy he turned all his thoughts and affections to attain to the most perfect love of God, and studied to devote all his moments to this glorious pursuit.  HIS SURNAME "STOCK" In this earnest desire, in the twelfth year of his age, he retired into a wilderness, and chose for his dwelling a great hollow oak tree; whence the surname of Stock was given him.  HIS AUSTERITIES Whilst he here mortified his flesh with fasting and other severities he nourished his soul with spiritual dainties in continual prayer. In the year 1472, when some Jews of Trent (famous for the last general council held there) met in their synagogue on Tuesday, in Holy Week, to deliberate on the preparations for the approaching festival of the Passover, which fell that year on the Thursday following, they came to a resolution of sacrificing to their inveterate hatred of the Christian name, some Christian infant on the Friday following, or Good Friday. SAINT SIMON OF LIPNICA, PRIEST Saint Simon was born in Lipnica Murowana, in the south of Poland, between the years 1435-1440. His parents, Gregory and Anne, gave him a good education, inspired by the values of the Christian faith - despite their modest conditions. Simon grew up very prayerful, and nurturing a tender love for the Mother of God. HE GREW UP VERY PRAYERFUL He moved to Krakow, to attend the famous Jagiellonian Academy, in 1454. It was precisely in those years that  Saint John of Capistrano  influenced the city through the sanctity of his life and the fervour of his preaching, attracting a dense crowd of young, generous men to the Franciscan vocation. On September 8, 1453, the Italian saint founded the first convent of the Observance, with the name of the recently canonised Saint Bernardine of Siena , in Krakow. SAINT SIMON STOCK, CONFESSOR  ⬅️ More information about Saint Simon Stock St Simon Stock received the  Brown Scapular in a vision from Our Lady. He lived in the 13th century and was from Kent, England. After a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he joined the hermit order of the  Carmelite  friars.  HE RECEIVED THE BROWN SCAPULAR His role was important to the consolidation of the order, which at the middle of the 13th century was transformed from a hermit order to being one of mendicant friars, and Simon Stock was its prior general at London. He died at Bordeaux, France, in 1265, and his cult spread during the 14th century. ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 28th of October WELCOME! SS. SIMON AND JUDE, APOSTLES Simon was a Chananite, sometimes called Zelotes. Thaddeus (who in the Gospel is called Jude the brother of James) was the author of one of the catholic epistles. Simon went through Egypt preaching the Gospel, Thaddeus did the same in Mesopotamia.  THEY SPREAD THE FAITH Afterwards they met in Persia, where Saints Simon and Jude raised countless children to Christ. Together in those far-reaching countries by their teaching and their miracles, they spread the Faith. Finally by a glorious martyrdom they paid together their testimony of honour to the most holy name of Jesus.
