SAINT VENANTIUS, ABBOT - 13 OCTOBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 13th of October SAINT VENANTIUS, ABBOT Today, we also commemorate Saint Venantius. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Tours, Saint Venantius, abbot, and confessor." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Venantius may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SAINT VENANTIUS OF METHONA, CONFESSOR - 30 MAY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 30th of May SAINT VENANTIUS OF METHONA, CONFESSOR Saint Venantius was a confessor at Methona in Greece (Morea). A brother of St Honoratus, he died in the year 374 and is venerated at Lérins , where he was buried. (Cf. H.-L. II. 761.) ST VENANTIUS OF VIVIERS, BISHOP - 5 AUGUST

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST Saints celebrated on the 5th of August WELCOME ! SAINT VENANTIUS OF VIVIERS, BISHOP This holy Bishop, whose life story was first written in the 11th or 12th century and is therefore not entirely reliable, adorned the episcopal chair of Viviers (Vivarium) at the beginning of the 6th century. Descended from Arian parents (the fact that he was a son of King St Sigismund is doubted by the Bollandists), he was introduced to the true Church by Bishop Avitus of Vienne and ordained some time later. HE WAS ORDAINED In the year 516 or 517 he came to Rome with the priest Alexis to deliver a letter from his bishop to Pope Hormisdas.  Soon afterwards he was chosen and consecrated to succeed Bishop Valerius of Viviers. As such, he attended the Council of Epaone (Epannum) in 517. He signed its resolutions. ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 18th of May Prayer to the Angels and the Saints Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation. In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven. Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts.
