ST WULSINUS, BISHOP

WELCOME! SAINT WULSINUS, BISHOP  St Wulsinus (Vulsinus) is commemorated on January 8, or September 26. This holy Bishop of Shepton (Schireburnensis), England, was born in London to respected parents and brought up well.  At a young age he entered the monastery St Peter (Westminster), where he soon became abbot.  Since he administered this office well and holy, he was made Bishop of Shepton around the year 940 (according to Mabillon*).  Once in office, he immediately proceeded to staff his episcopal church with Benedictines, and tried with tireless zeal to strengthen his flock in faith and good morals.  He died in 958 (the Bollandists* state 983), with the exclamation of St Stephen on his lips: "I see heaven open and Christ standing at the right hand of God." His crosier and some episcopal robes adorned the cathedral treasure for a long time.  (Information from Stadler's Complete Encyclopedia of Saints - 📷 1. Westminster views in winter, 2. The colle...
