Prayer to the Angels and the Saints
Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation.
In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven.
Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts. You provide an example for us by their lives on earth, You give us their friendship by our communion with them, You grant us strength and protection through their prayer for the Church, and You spur us on to victory over evil and the prize of eternal glory by this great company of witnesses.
Grant that we who aspire to take part in their joy may be filled with the Spirit that blessed their lives, so that, after sharing their faith on earth, we may also experience their peace in heaven. Amen.
BL. MAGDALENA PANATIERI, VIRGIN
Blessed Magdalena Panatieri O. S. Dom. is called de Trino or, after the name of her father, Panatieri (de Panateriis). The hagiographers Marchese and Migne count her among the "Blessed".
SHE TOOK THE HABIT OF THE THIRD ORDER OF ST DOMINIC
Marchese relates these details: Born at Trino (Tridinum), a castell between the towns of Casale and Vercelli in Monserrat, she took the habit of the third order of St Dominic, and soon reached an extraordinary level of piety. In uniting innocence and patience, she received many graces.
HER EXAMPLE WAS ST CATHERINE OF SIENA
Her example and her special refuge was St Catherine of Siena, whose fasts, night watches and other mortifications she strove to imitate. In this way she gradually came to the point that she lived in constant prayerful intercourse with her heavenly bridegroom. She diligently served him in the poor and sick whom she helped, and among them sinners were especially dear to her since, after all, our Redeemer had come to save them. Bl. Magdalena died in 1503.
THROUGH HER PRAYERS A STILLBORN BABY CAME BACK TO LIFE
Many wonderful healings took place at her grave, even a stillborn child came to life on her intercession, about which, in 1610, a canonical investigation was initiated by the Bishop of Casale.
