SAINT FINTAN, MISSIONARY AND HERMIT

St Fintan, 9th century Irish Saint and missionary in Switzerland and Germany, famous for his sublime prayer and spirit of penance.

He passed the last years of his life as a Recluse in an island in the River Rhine, and is still in great local veneration. He is said to have passed away A.D. 827.

PRAYER:

Pour into our hearts, O Lord, we pray, a longing for heavenly glory, and grant that we may come, bearing in our hands sheaves of justice, to where Saint Fintan shines with you. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
