CORVEY ABBEY
Corvei (Korvey [Corvey]) was a Princely Benedictine abbey and is now a castle in Prussia [Germany] in the district of Minden, on the river Weser.
It is affiliated to the Corbie monastery in Picardy (hence the name "Corbeia nova"). Corvei was founded in 822 and was endowed with large estates and privileges by Louis the Pious.
Corvei was a famous home of education and classical science, rebuilt in 1699, and raised to a prince-bishopric in 1793. [Sadly] it was secularised in 1803.
