Saints celebrated on the 25th of December
IRIMBERT, ABBOT
Irimbertus, a holy abbot, is commemorated on December 25. Irimbert was a Benedictine in the Admont monastery (ad montes) in Steiermark, Austria.
HIS TRANSFER TO BAMBERG
He completed his novitiate under the pious abbot Godefridus [Gottfried]. After some time, he was needed as abbot of the monastery of St Michael in Bamberg (because of his outstanding piety and erudition).
HE WROTE SEVERAL BIBLICAL COMMENTARIES
After he had led the monastery of St Michael for a period of time, he was recalled to Admont at the urgent request of his friars.
Irimbert then served in the same capacity as abbot and died a blissful death in 1176 or 1177. He wrote various commentaries on Holy Scripture.
