Saints celebrated on the 8th of July
WELCOME!
SAINT SUNNIFA, VIRGIN
Saint Sunnifa, a tenth century Virgin Martyr, was an Irish maiden whom tradition asserts to have been cast away by shipwreck on the coast of Norway, together with other maidens her companions.
SHIPWRECKED
There they appear to have led a life of seclusion and prayer. To them the old Scottish Church undoubtedly gave a liturgical cultus, as to canonised Saints.
(From The Book of Saints, 1921, by the Monks of Ramsgate)
PRAYER:
O God, who gladden us each year by the feast of blessed Sunnifa, graciously grant that, as we rejoice in her merits, we may be inspired by her example. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
