Saints celebrated on the 18th of July
SAINT THENEVA, WIDOW
St Theneva (Thennew) lived in the 7th century. She is the mother of Saint Kentigern, and together with him Patron Saint of Glasgow, Scotland. She was a princess of the ancient kingdom of Gododdin (today's Lothian).
A chapel dedicated to St Theneva existed in Glasgow, which was destroyed during the Reformation. Close by the chapel was a holy well bearing her name. St Theneva's feast day is celebrated on July 18.
PRAYER:
O God, who gladden us each year by the feast of blessed Theneva, graciously grant that, as we rejoice in her merits, we may be inspired by her example. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
