ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER
Saints celebrated on the 5th of September
BLESSED CATHERINE MATTHEI, VIRGIN
Blessed Catherine Matthei was born of poor parents in Raconis in the Piedmont area. She entered the Dominican Order and tried to model her life on Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine of Siena.
SHE HAD VISIONS OF OUR LORD
Bl. Catherine [who had visions of our Lord all her life] died at Carmagnola [in 1574] after a very long and painful period of sickness.
HER BODY WAS TRANSFERRED TO GARESSIO
Five months later her body was transferred to Garessio. The miracles performed at her intercession earned her the general admiration, which is why in 1810 Pius VII moved her feast to September 5, on which day her name can now be found in the Roman Martyrology (Dominicans).

PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Blessed Catherine may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
