Saints celebrated on the 17th of September

Prayer to the Angels and the Saints

Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation.

In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven.

Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts. You provide an example for us by their lives on earth, You give us their friendship by our communion with them, You grant us strength and protection through their prayer for the Church, and You spur us on to victory over evil and the prize of eternal glory by this great company of witnesses.

Grant that we who aspire to take part in their joy may be filled with the Spirit that blessed their lives, so that, after sharing their faith on earth, we may also experience their peace in heaven. Amen.

ST STANISLAUS OF JESUS MARY, PRIEST AND FOUNDER 

Jan Papczynski was born on May 18, 1631 in Podegrodzie, Poland. 

He joined the Piarist fathers with the name of Stanislaus of Jesus Mary and was ordained priest.

HE JOINED THE PIARIST FATHERS

On December 11, 1670 he made an act of offering to God and the Immaculate Virgin, promising to found a new institute, an order of white-robed canons regular - Marian clerics under the title of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. 

THE ORDER RECEIVED PONTIFICAL APPROVAL

The order received pontifical approval on September 21, 1699. In addition to the defence of the Immaculate Conception, the Order had also particular prayers for the souls in Purgatory, especially for those of the soldiers and those who died suddenly, and the preaching to the poorly religiously educated peasants. 

HIS CANONISATION

Father Stanislaus, after a spell of illness, died on September 17, 1701 in Nowa Jerozolima. He was beatified on September 16, 2007 and canonised on June 5, 2016.
