VEIT ADAM VON GEPECKH, BISHOP OF FREISING
Vitus [Veit] (December 8), surnamed Adam, was a pious bishop of Freising (South Germany), in the order of the 53rd. Due to his noble birth he had the title Prince of Geebeck [Gepeckh].
MOST DIFFICULT TIMES
He mounted the episcopal chair on February 12, 1618 under the most difficult circumstances (on four separate occasions, during the Thirty-Years War, he had to flee from the invading Swedes).
WISDOM AND PERSEVERANCE
He led the bishopric with wisdom and perseverance until December 8, 1651. He rests in the cathedral in Freising.

ST NANTOVINUS, PILGRIM
Saint Nantovinus, a rich 13th century pilgrim, rode through the Archdiocese of Freising, where a village with a church bears his name ("Nantwein"), where he ended his pious life on August 7, 1286.
