Saints celebrated on the 19th of May
Prayer to the Angels and the Saints
Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation.
In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven.
Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts. You provide an example for us by their lives on earth, You give us their friendship by our communion with them, You grant us strength and protection through their prayer for the Church, and You spur us on to victory over evil and the prize of eternal glory by this great company of witnesses.
Grant that we who aspire to take part in their joy may be filled with the Spirit that blessed their lives, so that, after sharing their faith on earth, we may also experience their peace in heaven. Amen.

After he was trained to become a missionary, he was sent to the Philippines. He spent 16 years in the Philippines exercising his ministry in a suburb of Manila.
THE PERSECUTION IN JAPAN
In 1618 he was assigned to Japan and from there he was asked to set sail for Korea to open a new mission field, which was unsuccessful. Despite the persecution, he preferred to stay in Japan, and for this he had to disguise himself as a Spanish merchant and thus outwit the authorities. To stay concealed, he had to visit the Christians at night to administer the sacraments and encourage the sick and the weakest. .
HE WAS IMPRISONED
In 1618 the house where he resided was raided, and he was brought before the governor of Nagasaki. He confessed his religious identity before the judge and was imprisoned in Suzuta prison where he died after three months of illness. His body was thrown into the sea.
HIS BEATIFICATION
He was beatified on May 7, 1867 by Pope Pius IX, along with 204 other martyrs of Japan.
