SAINT BRYNOLPH, BISHOP OF SCARA
Saint Brynolphus, Bishop of Scara in Sweden, came from the famous lineage of the Folchungs of West Gothland and was sent by his father Algoth Stur to Paris, where he pursued his scientific career with great renown.
HE INFLUENCED HIS FLOCK WITH GOOD SUCCESS
After returning to his homeland, he received the holy ordination as priest, became a canon of Scara, then dean of Linköping and soon afterwards bishop of Scara, in which office he influenced his flock with good success.
HIS HOLY DEATH
After having held the episcopacy for 38 years, the saint died February 6, 1317 (Butler erroneously said 817) and was buried in the church at Scara. Later, his relics were raised in A.D 1416 and he was canonised at the Council of Constance on the request of King Eric XII.
