Saints celebrated on the 2nd of May
SAINT SECUNDUS, BISHOP OF AVILA
According to local tradition, Secundus (May 2nd, 15th), the first bishop of Avila (Abula) in Spain, was one of the first preachers of the faith sent there by the apostles, whose relics were found in 1519 when a dilapidated church was being demolished. They were solemnly raised. Since there were no records of him (his life story only gives general information) it is not known whether he died as a martyr or a natural death.

PRAYER:
May the intercession of the blessed Secundus, your bishop, commend us to you, so that through his merits we may obtain that which we cannot accomplish by our own. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
