ADELGARIUS, ARCHBISHOP OF HAMBURG-BREMEN

Adelgarius was archbishop of Bremen and Hamburg and successor of Saint Rambert, whose faithful companion he had been for several years preaching the gospel to the Danes.

He ruled his diocese for twelve years and died in 909. Bucelin lists him among the "saints"; in some Benedictine martyrologies, however, the title "venerable" is given to him.
