ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY
Saints celebrated on the 8th of February
Prayer to the Angels and the Saints
Heavenly Father, in praising Your Angels and Saints we praise Your glory, for by honouring them we honour You, their Creator. Their splendour shows us Your greatness, which infinitely surpasses that of all creation.
In Your loving providence, You saw fit to send Your Angels to watch over us. Grant that we may always be under their protection and one day enjoy their company in heaven.
Heavenly Father, You are glorified in Your Saints, for their glory is the crowning of Your gifts. You provide an example for us by their lives on earth, You give us their friendship by our communion with them, You grant us strength and protection through their prayer for the Church, and You spur us on to victory over evil and the prize of eternal glory by this great company of witnesses.
Grant that we who aspire to take part in their joy may be filled with the Spirit that blessed their lives, so that, after sharing their faith on earth, we may also experience their peace in heaven. Amen.
BLESSED PHILIPP JENINGEN, PRIEST
He was born at Eichstätt, Bavaria [Germany] January 5, 1642; he died at Ellwangen, February 8, 1704. Entering the Society of Jesus, January 19, 1663, he became a most successful popular missionary at the shrine of Our Lady of Schönenberg, near Ellwangen in Swabia, made famous by the Jesuits, and to which Jeningen, through the renown of his holiness, drew pilgrims from near and far. For many years he went forth on missions in the entire neighbouring country, his burning zeal achieving wonderful results. He is yet remembered as the "Apostle of the Ries".

***
According to his diary, Jeningen had remarkable mystical experiences of the Heart of Jesus. Already during his lifetime, he had the reputation of being a saint, particularly because of his gift of healing and the ability to predict events, and the people called him “good Father Philipp”. His holy death occurred on February 8, 1704 in Ellwangen.
Philipp Jeningen was buried in the cloister of the Ellwangen collegiate church of St Vitus and has rested in its Marienkapelle since 1953, where the population often comes to him with their thanks and their requests. The beatification process for Father Philipp, initiated in 1920, ended in 1989 with the determination of his heroic degree of virtue. After the recognition of a miracle through his intercession in 2021, his beatification took place on July 16, 2022 in Ellwangen.
