Saints celebrated on the 31st of May
MARTIN OF ZEMET, MARTYR
This pious servant of God saw the light of day in Zemet in Silesia in 1589. He entered the Society of Jesus on April 8, 1607 in Brno. His life had a reputation for holiness.
At Kuttenberg, where her image was venerated, he received the certainty from the Mother of of our Lord that his desire to die as a martyr would be fulfilled.
He was in fact killed with two Catholic brothers, the Irishman John Meagh and Wenzel Trnczka, on May 31, 1639, in the forest near Kuttenberg. It turned out later that their murder was committed on the orders of a local heretic aristocrat.
