SAINT URSICINUS, BISHOP OF CHUR
Ursicinus, a Benedictine monk, led the transformation of the Sigisbert cell founded around 720 in Disentis [Switzerland] into a Benedictine monastery and led it as abbot before he became bishop of Chur (in 754).
In 758 he renounced the office of bishop to spend his remaining time on earth seeing to his soul by prayer and fasting. To this end he retired to a hermitage, where he died on October 2 around 760.
