Saints celebrated on the 5th of May
SAINT MAXIMUS, BISHOP AND CONFESSOR
Today, we also commemorate Saint Maximus. The Roman Martyrology states:
"At Jerusalem, Saint Maximus, bishop and confessor, whom the Caesar Maximian Galerius condemned to work in the mines, after having plucked out one of his eyes and branded him on the foot with hot iron."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Maximus may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
