Saints celebrated on the 27th of June
SAINT ANECTUS, MARTYR
Today, we also commemorate Saint Anectus. The Roman Martyrology states:
"At Caesarea, in Palestine, in the persecution of Diocletian, under the governor Urbanus, Saint Anectus, martyr. For having exhorted others to suffer martyrdom, and overthrown idols by his prayers, he was scourged by ten soldiers, had his hands and feet cut off, and by decapitation merited the crown of martyrdom."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Anectus may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
