Saints celebrated on the 24th of August
SAINT GEORGE LIMNIOTA, MARTYR
Today, we also commemorate Saint George Limniota. The Roman Martyrology states:
"Also, Saint George Limniota, monk. Because he reprehended the impious emperor Leo for breaking holy images and burning the relics of the saints, he had his hands cut off and his head burned by order of the tyrant, and went to our Lord to receive the recompense of a martyr."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint George Limniota may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
