Saints celebrated on the 28th of May
SAINT HELCONIDES, MARTYR
Today, we also commemorate Saint Helconides. The Roman Martyrology states:
"At Corinth, Saint Helconides, martyr, who was first subjected to torments in the reign of the emperor Gordian, under the governor Perennius, and then again tortured under his successor Justin. But being liberated by an angel, she had her breasts cut off, was exposed to wild beasts and to fire, and at length terminated her martyrdom by decapitation."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Helconides may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
