Saints celebrated on the 6th of July
SAINT LUCIA AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS
Today, we also commemorate Saints Lucia and Companions. The Roman Martyrology states:
"The same day, Saint Lucia, martyr, a native of Campania. Being arrested and severely tortured by the lieutenant-governor Rictiovarus, she converted him to Christ. To them were added Antoninus, Severinus, Diodorus, Dion, and seventeen others, who shared their sufferings and their crowns."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Lucia and Companions may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
