Saints celebrated on the 22nd of July
SAINT PLATO, MARTYR
Today, we also commemorate Saint Plato. The Roman Martyrology states:
"At Ancyra, in Galatia, the birthday of the martyr Saint Plato. Under the lieutenant-governor Agrippinus, he was scourged, lacerated with iron hooks, and subjected to other most atrocious torments, and finally being beheaded, he rendered his invincible soul to God. The miracles he wrought in assisting the captives are attested in the Acts of the second Council of Nicaea."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Plato may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
