Saints celebrated on the 4th of July
SAINT THEODORE, BISHOP AND CONFESSOR
Today, we also commemorate Saint Theodore. The Roman Martyrology states:
"At Cyrene, in Lybia, the holy bishop Theodore. In the persecution of Diocletian, under the governor Dignian, he was scourged with leaded whips, and had his tongue cut out. Finally, however, he died a confessor."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Theodore may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
