Saints celebrated on the 4th of November
SAINT PIERIUS, PRIEST
Today, we also commemorate Saint Pierius. The Roman Martyrology states:
"The same day, the birthday of Saint Pierius, priest of Alexandria, who, being deeply versed in the sacred Scriptures, leading a very pure life, and freed from all impediments in order to apply to Christian philosophy, taught the people with great renown, and published various treatises, under the emperors Carus and Diocletian, when Theonas governed the church of Alexandria. After the persecution, he spent the remainder of his life at Rome, where he rested in peace."
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Pierius may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
