BL. MARIA BERNARDINA JABLONSKA, FOUNDRESS
Maria Jablonska (Jabłońska), born August 5, 1878 in Pizuny, Poland, was the daughter of Grzegorz and Maria Jablonska. Dedicated to the Mother of God from a young age, she was homeschooled and afterwards began a life of selfless dedication to the poor and to those who suffered.
She made her solemn profession as a nun on March 6, 1897. Her name in religion was Bernardina (Bernardyna). Alongside Albert Chmielowski, she founded the Sisters Servants of the Poor (January 18, 1891). In April 1902 she became Superior General; she held this position until her death on September 23, 1940. Bernardina was beatified in 1997.
