Saints celebrated on the 27th of May
BLESSED RICHARD HOLIDAY, PRIEST AND MARTYR
Blessed Richard Holiday, Priest and Martyr, born in Yorkshire, England; he was hanged, drawn, and quartered at Durham on May 27, 1590.
He had gone to Reims to study at the English College on September 6, 1584, but was not ordained a priest until 1589. Almost immediately upon returning to England, he and Edmund Duke, Richard Hill, and John Hogg were arrested and condemned for their priesthood. Their beatification took place on November 22, 1987 (George Haydock and Companions).
