Born around 1567 in Anglesey (Diocese of Bangor), North Wales, Richard Flower (vere Floyd or Lloyd; alias Graye, Fludd) was a Catholic lay martyr
Flower, the younger brother of Fr Owen Lloyd, was arrested in London (1588) and condemned for assisting Fr William Horner, a seminary priest. He suffered on August 30, 1588 (by being hanged at Tyburn, London). On this occasion, Fr Richard Leigh and laymen Edward Shelley, Richard Martin, John Roche, as well as Margaret Ward, were also martyred. Richard Flower is frequently confused with Fr William Way, who used the alias Flower. Richard Flower was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 1987 as part of the martyr group George Haydock and Companions.
