Saints celebrated on the 25th of May
WELCOME!
SAINT ZENOBIUS, BISHOP OF FLORENCE
Saint Zenobius, Bishop of Florence, came from a noble pagan family. Bishop Theodore welcomed him into his clergy, and he later became a disciple of Saint Ambrose in Milan. During the pontificate of Pope Damasus, he traveled to Rome; it is said that the Pope sent him to Constantinople as a legate. As Bishop of Florence, Saint Zenobius became renowned for his apostolic zeal and his gift of performing miracles. Died 407 or 424. Feast day: May 25 [also commemorated on October 20]. Iconographic attributes: An elm tree - which had been dead, old, and withered - turned green and began to bloom as his body was carried past; he is also depicted healing those possessed by demons, or with a child whom he brought back to life (the living child is shown standing beside the child who had been lying on the ground). Patron saint of Florence; invoked against headaches.
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Zenobius may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
