VENERABLE FINGEN, ABBOT
The venerable Fingen (Fingenius), remembered on October 7, originally from Ireland, arrived in Germany during the reign of Emperor Lothair. Because of his virtues and insights, Bishop Theodoric of Metz encouraged Fingen to take his vows according to the Rule of St. Benedict. Due to his qualities, he was elected abbot of three monasteries: St Felix and St Symphorian in Metz, and St Victor in Verdun. He died in 1004.
