ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST
Saints celebrated on the 6th of August
WELCOME!
Blessed Hermann (Hermannus) (August 6, December 23), first provost of the Premonstratensian monastery of Scheda or Scheida in Westphalia, was a Jew converted to the Gospel by divine grace. Nothing beyond the tradition of his sanctity has survived to posterity. He is said to have died on August 6, 1173; however, all modern religious writers mention him on December 23. They also give him the title "Blessed." Since the Bollandists* could not obtain reliable evidence of his public veneration, they include him among their Praetermissi, intending to report on him in more detail on December 23. He is also mentioned in the Elenchus*.
