  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 5th of May SAINT NICETIUS, BISHOP OF VIENNE Saint Nicetius (Nicetas) is commemorated on May 5. This holy bishop of Vienne in France lived around A.D. 375, where he attended the synod of Valence (Concil. Valentinum ). The Roman Martyrology * calls him a man of "venerable holiness."   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER   Saints celebrated on the 6th of October SAINT NICETAS, MONK AND CONFESSOR This Saint Nicetas was a monk and confessor in Greece, of high birth, who died in exile in the year 838 after many sufferings endured for the veneration of the images and the Catholic faith.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 15th of September WELCOME! SAINT NICETAS, MARTYR   Saints Sabas and Nicetas are the two most renowned martyrs among the Goths. The former is honoured on April 12, the latter, whom the Greeks place in the class of the great martyrs, is commemorated on this day.  He was a Goth, born near the banks of the Danube, and converted to the faith in his youth by Theophilus, who was bishop of the Scythians and Goths in the reign of Constantine the Great.  A FURIOUS PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS When Valens ascended the imperial throne in the East, in the year 364, the nation of the Goths was divided into two kingdoms.  Athanaric, king of the Eastern Goths, who bordered upon the Roman empire towards Thrace, being a savage prince, and a declared enemy to the Christian religion, in 370, raised a furious persecution against the church in his dominions.  ALL WHO REFUSED TO WORSHIP THE IDOL WERE PUT TO DEATH By his o...
