ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY

Saints celebrated on the 17th of February

WELCOME!

THE SEVEN HOLY FOUNDERS OF THE ORDER OF SERVITES

Seven laymen of the city of Florence, in the mid-thirteenth century, renounced the world and lived as hermits on Monte Senario, about 12 miles from Florence. They had a particular devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

They spent themselves in the care of others and eventually in preaching throughout Tuscany. The Order of Servites was founded from those who came to follow them, and was recognised by the Holy See in 1304.

The Seven Holy Founders are: Saints Bonfilius ,  Alexis Falconieri, John Bonagiunta [Bonajuncta], Benedict dell’Antella, Bartholomew Amidei, Gerard Sostegni, and Ricoverus Uggucione.

PRAYER:

Lord,

fill us with the love

which inspired the seven holy brothers

to honour the Mother of God with special devotion

and to lead your people to you.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

God, for ever and ever.

Amen.
