SAINT AZA AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS
In the early fourth century, Saint Aza (Axas) and his 150 fellow soldiers were killed for their Christian faith. This happened under Emperor Diocletian at the orders of the war tribune Aquilinus in Isauria. According to the hagiographer Migne their martyrdom took place in A.D. 304. The Roman Martyrology mentions them on this day as well.
