BLESSED GELASIUS O'CULLENAN, ABBOT OF BOYLE, MARTYR
Gelasius, surnamed Oculeram [O'Cullenan], was abbot of Boyle in Ireland. Born of noble blood, he was nobler still in virtue and holiness. He died as a martyr under the persecution of Queen Elizabeth of England in 1580. On the way to the place of execution he converted 550 more heretics. He was hanged and quartered. With him also suffered the blessed monk Eugenius Omulkeram, who was put to death by the same kind of torture. (Lech.)
