BLESSED ODO OF CLAIRVAUX
Odo was subprior at Clairvaux and disciple of St Bernhard. He shone through exceptional gentleness and other virtues.
Most sources refer to him as a "Blessed" (Menardus, Bucelin, and others); Saussayus lists him among the "Saints".
It is specifically related of Odo (in Chalemot) that during the celebration of the Holy Mass he was often ecstatic and appreciated seeing the dear Saviour face to face. Nevertheless, before he died, fell into great fear that he might not stand up in the judgement of God. St Bernhard himself kept the dying man company during his last agony. Odo's grave was held in high esteem by his brothers. Some calendars mention him on February 17.
