Saints celebrated on the 28th of May
BLESSED PETER OF COLLE, HERMIT
Blessed Peter was one of the first tertiaries of St Francis. He lived in Colle in Tuscany - extremely poor and strict on himself. He was very favoured by God and loved by the people. When he died, all the town's bells started ringing on their own accord.
There was controversy over where to bury the body of the blessed: whether in Colle or in the parish of Plano or at the nearby abbey. Then a cloud of butterflies appeared, which gathered around the corpse and then proceeded to fly to Colle, to the church of St James.
Here, accordingly, the blessed hermit was buried and many miracles glorified his resting place. His feast is still commemorated.
Blessed Peter is also commemorated on August 21.
