BUEILLIUS, PATRIARCH IN AMERICA
Bueillius (Bucillius), a monk from Montserrat in Spain and first patriarch in America, participated in Columbus' voyage to America. The Pope selected him as the apostolic legate and patriarch of this area. Bueillius died, after unspeakable toil and effort for the spread of the kingdom of God, in 1509.
Bueillius is also remembered on May 17.
