FRANCISCINA OF MESSINA, VIRGIN
Against the opposition of her parents, Franciscina (Franciscetta), a virgin, entered the convent of St Clare at Messina in Sicily.
Her love of evangelical poverty and mortification was truly inspiring: she refrained from ever wearing a new outfit, not once did she sleep in the bed allotted to her, she never sat at a table. Thus she sanctified herself through prayer and these and all other monastic virtues. Franciscina passed to her eternal reward in A.D. 1484. (Hub. Men.)
