GREGORY, ABBOT AT BURSCHEID
Gregory (Gregorius, Gregor) was abbot of the monastery at Burscheid (Porcetanum), not far from Aachen [Germany].
The following legend is quoted In Bruzen*, namely, that St Gregory, a son of the Greek emperor Nicephorus, founded this monastery. The tale continues to say that it used to be a monastery for monks, but that in 1220 Cistercian nuns moved in instead. (El.)
