HILTOPIRGIS, WIDOW AND ANCHORESS
Hiltopirgis (also known as Wilwirga), sister of the pious Margrave Leopold of Austria, led a life full of holiness in the monastery of Göttweih (Gotvicum) in Lower Austria, separated from the monks.
She had previously been married to Duke Borziwoi (Boriuvius) II of Bohemia, but after his death she exchanged the large duchy for the confined cell. Abbot Hartmann, who had previously been Duke of Carinthia and then, as the first abbot von Göttweih, became her spiritual director, had the above-mentioned enclosure built for Hiltopirgis at her request.
