MANDETUS, HERMIT
During the 7th century, this holy religious and hermit lived on an island off the coast of Brittany. Nothing has survived about him apart from his name (French Mandé).
His relics, which were originally kept at St Etienne des Bourges and afterwards moved to a church near Paris dedicated to him, are also no longer extant. A parish in the diocese of La Rochelle bears his name - at that place there are still traces of his former activity, which perhaps, with continued investigation, will bring to light further details of his life.
