Saints celebrated on the 1st of May
NICHOLAS I., BISHOP OF CONSTANCE
Nicholas (Nicolaus) I., Bishop of Constance, is particularly known as a strong and charitable helper of the poor and of those affected by the heavy floods at the time. He pawned his own clothes and his silver dishes to alleviate the need of his flock. This "father of the poor", died godly in the year 1344. (Burg.)
