SAINT ARTEMON, PRIEST AND MARTYR
Saint Artemon was a priest of the church of Laodicea and was martyred under Emperor Diocletian - according to some by the sword, and according to the Roman Martyrology* and others by fire.
Two Elogia (eulogies) about him have come down to us from the Greek Menae (one for March 24, another for October 8), which, in the opinion of our guides, are fables. One of their incredible details is that he entered the idol temples by night and smashed the pagan statues there.
