SAINT AYGULPH, ARCHBISHOP OF BOURGES
Saint Aygulph (Aygulphus, Ajulphus) - called St-Au, Hou, Ayoul, Ayeul in France - was Archbishop of Bourges (Bituricum).
He lived in solitude for a long time, until in A.D. 812 (or 811) he was raised to the archbishop's chair of that city. Aygulph was chosen for this position because of his holiness. After administering his diocese with apostolic zeal for 26 years, he died in 838 (according to Butler* in 840) and was buried at the main church at Bourges.
