SAINT BALSEMIUS, HERMIT
Saint Balsemius, Baussenge in French, was the nephew of St Basolus. He is to be distinguished from another St Balsemius who lived about two centuries later.
Our St Balsemius was born in the Limousin region and after the death of St Basolus he inherited this saint's cell in Champagne.
According to Migne*, he is the patron saint of Ramerupt in Champagne, where his holy body is preserved. His head relic is kept and venerated in Paris. (El., Buc., Mg.)
St Balsemius is also commemorated on August 25.
