SAINT BILIUS, BISHOP AND MARTYR
Saint Bilius - Billy in French - was a bishop and martyr at Vannes in France (in Brittany). He took over the government of that diocese in A.D. 882 and was crowned with martyrdom in 895, probably because of his defence of ecclesiastical rights.
According to the French writers, our Saint was chaplain to King Alanus of Brittany (according to Migne*, he was chaplain to Queen Morone, wife of King Judicael of Brittany), and apparently was buried in the parish of Planturn (Plandran), in a little church there.
